BIO

Born in 1969 in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia. Stefan Berger has a degree in Economics from the University of Mainz. He also obtained a Doctorate in 1999.

Before his election as a Member of European Parliament in 2019, Berger was a Member of the State Parliament North Rhine-Westphalia and had a teaching position at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management (FOM) and at the International School of Management (ISM).

He was also a Science Policy Spokesman for the CDU NRW State Parliament Group. Berger is a Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and of the Delegation for relations with Japan (D-JP).

Since 1999, he has been the Chairman of the CDU Schwalmtal. 

From 2001 to 2004, he was a Member of the District Council of Viersen. 

Since 2000, he has been a Member of the Executive Board of the CDU Niederrhein and since 2009, he has been the Deputy Chairman of the CDU Viersen.

From 1999 to 2009, he was a Councillor of the Schwalmtal Municipality. He is also a Member of the State Board of the CDU Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung (MIT), the EPP SME Circle, as well as, the Bundesfachausschuss Europapolitik (Federal Expert Committee on European Policy).
