“I want to open the doors wide open for the Youths in Europe. 50 students will have a direct experience at the European Parliament and keeping my promise to increase the share of EU opportunities for Maltese youths and organisations”. MEP Peter Agius launched the Study Visits Program to the European Parliament during a press launch held at Europe House in Valletta.  Study visits with MEP Peter Agius will include a job shadowing experience with the MEP as well as access to the European Parliament in Brussels and its research materials.

Dr Agius was accompanied by Dr Mario Thomas Vassallo and Dr Anne Marie Thake from the Department of Policy, Politics and Governance at the University of Malta who both welcomed the Study Visits program as a tool for students to acquire practical experiences to enrich their academic journey.

The study visits are meant to target both those students whose studies are related to the European Union, and students with a further aspiration to work with EU institutions in Brussels. The study visit would typically take place for a minimum of one week and a maximum of three weeks.

A lump sum of €700 will be provided during the study visit to cover basic travel and accommodation expenses. Practical travel and accommodation arrangements will depend entirely on the student’s own initiative. Upon selection, the MEPs Office will also provide a few links for potential short-stay accommodation in Brussels.

Applying is easy. Full details are on https://peteragius.eu/study-visits/. Applicants are asked to include a brief motivational letter on how the study visit with MEP Peter Agius will help them as a student or in their career. MEP Agius said there will be a selection board to interview applicants and identify the chosen students and the appropriate date slots.

Dr. Agius said he is that he is proud to represent such an opportunity, which continues to ensure that Maltese students enrich their studies or careers, while acknowledging that this is just the beginning and that more is to come after he managed to provide this opportunity to young people in his first 100 days as an MEP.

‘Europe is a room of opportunities for the Maltese in many sectors. As an MEP, I am determined to continue to bring these opportunities closer to the Maltese and Gozitans. The Study Visit Programme is part of this process and i will do my best to provide more opportunities in the near future’ said Dr. Peter Agius.
