Corruption is the anti-thesis of what our European Union stands for, and that is why the European Parliament is getting increasingly concerned with the situation in Romania.

Speaking during a Committee debate on the priorities of the Romanian Presidency, Member of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola said that the European Union must fight against corruption with everything it has got, or else the political project might start to crack.

Addressing the Minister of Justice and Minister of Internal Affairs, Roberta Metsola insisted that Romania’s place must be at the heart of the European Union, and as leader of the Council Presidency, it should set an example of the European values, both within the European Union and in front of the rest of the world.

As EPP Group Coordinator in the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee, Roberta Metsola said, “Romanians are proud to be Romanian citizens, but they are also passionate Europeans, and that is because our Union means protection and guarantee of their values. And therefore, we will not abandon them.”
