Željana Zovko is a Croatian politician and diplomat, currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2016 for the HDZ/EPP Group - and is a Vice-Chair of the EPP Group. Her Committee work includes Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence, Fisheries, and International Trade, and she actively participates in delegations focused on relations with the US, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo.Prior to her election to the European Parliament, Zovko pursued a distinguished diplomatic career, serving as Ambassador to France, Spain, and Italy. During this time, she was also a permanent representative. She was additionally a non-resident Ambassador to Algeria, Tunisia, Monaco, Malta, and Andorra. In recognition of her service, she received several honours, including the Grand Cross of the Order of Military Merit, awarded by His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain.Zovko holds a BA (Hons) in French Language and Literature from the University of North London. She is fluent in English, French, Italian, and Spanish, in addition to her native Croatian.
