During a plenary debate of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the review of the Maltese Presidency the Head of the PN Delegation David Casa praised the Maltese experts on EU affairs that had reached agreement on a number of important files.
“The Maltese professionals that have acquired great expertise in EU affairs over many years deserve praise for the work that has been done in the last 6 months.
In particular agreement to end mobile phone roaming charges and portability of online content, the internal security agenda such as border security, cybersecurity an agreement on the Istanbul Convention against gender violence and new EU anti-dumping rules”
David Casa who is the EPP Group Coordinator on Employment and Social Affairs also expressed regret that it was not possible to broker a deal on the posting of workers directive. He said that he was hopeful progress could be made in the coming months.
Casa made reference to Prime Minister Muscat’s calls for unity. He suggested that the Prime Minister should practice what he preached in Europe back home, making reference to the purge of persons of different political leanings from public posts and the recent concerns expressed by the EU Commission regarding dismissals in the Valletta 2018 team.
