Former Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Simon Busuttil and Partit Nazzjonalista Head of Delegation in the European Parliament MEP David Casa submitted a court application this afternoon requesting a Magistratial Inquiry on the basis of the damning revelations made by The Daphne Project and the FIAU report in David Casa’s possession.
The application makes reference to the amounts transferred to 17 Black totalling €1.3 million. The funds originated from Azerbaijan and from a company associated with the LNG tanker. Funds from 17 Black were to flow to Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri to the tune of €150,000 every month, as documented in emails sent by Nexia BT and published in international press.
Simon Busuttil stated: “This week’s revelations are damning. Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri have been taking everyone for a ride and in the process they have sheltered behind the protection of Joseph Muscat. The longer they continue running the country the deeper our country’s reputation will sink.”
David Casa stated: “Daphne Caruana Galizia has been vindicated. Resignations are not enough. The evidence against Mizzi and Schembri is overwhelming. They must be brought to justice and Joseph Muscat must shoulder responsibility”.
Simon Busuttil and David Casa were represented by Hon. Jason Azzopardi as their lawyer. “We presented this application before the on-duty magistrate. Simon Busuttil and David Casa should be called to testify in the coming days”, he concluded.
