Background:

On Thursday, 22 May, the European Parliament will adopt its position on the simplification of the EU's carbon border tax by plenary vote.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) aims to prevent carbon leakage by imposing a price on carbon emissions from imports of materials covering cement, iron and steel, aluminum, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen, including certain precursors and downstream products.
