A poll conducted by RED C Research and Marketing, commissioned by the EPP Group, found that 78% of Europeans want the primary objective for Brexit negotiations to be protecting the good future of the remaining EU27, rather than building a new economic relationship with the UK.

The poll was conducted in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain and Sweden.

The results were presented today at the EPP Group Bureau meeting in Wicklow, where we were welcomed by our member party Fine Gael. Part of the poll focused on Ireland in particular and found that 93% of Irish respondents agreed that, in order to protect Irish interests, the EU should work closer together, with Fine Gael voters being the most pro-European.
