Less paperwork - EPP keeps its promises!
Today is a good day for European businesses and competitiveness. A year ago, the EPP promised voters to cut red tape, simplify existing regulations, and remove unnecessary burdens for European companies.
“Today we delivered. We put competitiveness back on the agenda and proved that Europe can be both sustainable and competitive,” said Jörgen Warborn MEP, Parliament's lead negotiator for cutting red tape in sustainability reporting (Omnibus I).
“By cutting excessive reporting obligations, we are freeing companies from unnecessary bureaucracy so they can invest where it actually matters - in innovation, clean technologies, and jobs in Europe. However, the timeline for the Omnibus is pressing,” underlined Warborn. We remain committed to finalising the negotiations with the Council by the end of this year, as this is a matter of the highest urgency for European companies who expect us to act. Therefore, we call on S&D MEPs to be as constructive as their socialist governments have been in the Council.
Today’s plenary vote was about exactly that - showing our small and medium-sized enterprises, which are struggling to remain competitive, that we have heard their message. The EPP stands and will stand by its commitments.
