European Finance Ministers including Germany's Wolfgang Schaeuble joined MEPs to call for more action to fight tax avoidance. They came to lend their support to the European Parliament's Special Committee investigating the Panama Papers scandal. Committee Chair Werner Langen of the EPP Group stated that more transparency, including an EU-wide Common Corporate Consolidated Tax Base, would help national governments fight the loss of up to 70 billion euros annually from tax avoidance.
