The Week ahead
The EPP Group wants Europeans to have more time to grow their businesses, not drown in paperwork. On Tuesday afternoon, MEPs in the Justice Committee will debate the forthcoming 'Omnibus' proposal on cutting red tape for European companies, together with Valdis Dombrovskis, EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification. "Europe needs more growth and jobs to ensure prosperity for future generations. This requires unprecedented action to reduce regulatory and administrative burdens on European companies. We expect the Commission to deliver," says Tomas Tobé MEP, EPP Group Vice-Chair for Legal and Home Affairs.

On Tuesday afternoon, the European Parliament‘s Security and Defence Committee will debate the role of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities. The EPP Group has been pushing for new ways of financing our defence programmes. In October 2024, the EPP Group position paper on European Defence was already calling for a "revision of the mandate of the European Investment Bank. EIB loans should serve as a catalyst for private investment in the European defence industry".
