EPP Group considers Bulc capable with strong opinions

The EPP Group considers Commissioner-Designate Violeta Bulc as able to do the job of European Commissioner, but she will need to extend her 4-day knowledge of EU transport policy as soon as possible.

"Bulc gave a sound presentation tonight at her hearing in the European Parliament," stated Wim van de Camp MEP, who coordinates EPP Group MEPs in the Transport Committee of the European Parliament.

“She seems to be an intelligent woman and has already expressed some strong opinions: no social dumping and more investment. I expect her to learn the details of the transport dossier quickly if she is confirmed," he continued.

Bulc was proposed for the job of Transport Commissioner after the approved candidate, Maroš Šefčovič, was transferred to another post to replace rejected candidate Alenka Bratušek.

Wim van de Camp and other EPP Group MEPs quizzed Bulc on many important subjects like the Trans-European Networks for Transport, lowering the number of fatal road accidents, Uberpop taxis, and airport controls to combat Ebola.

The EPP Group will evaluate the hearing with the other political groups on Tuesday.
