EPP Group secures stronger air passenger rights

Today, the European Parliament approved stronger air passenger rights, marking a clear win for travellers and a major success for the EPP Group, which led the negotiations. The new rules protect existing rights while introducing practical improvements to make air travel fairer, clearer and more reliable.

"The European Parliament has shown that protecting passengers and supporting a strong European aviation sector go hand in hand. After more than 13 years, we are finally delivering clearer rules, stronger rights and greater legal certainty. When people take planes, their rights will not be left behind on the ground. And mark my words: passengers and the aviation sector have a good future ahead of them," said Andrey Novakov MEP, Parliament's lead negotiator on the air passenger rights law.

"Just as abolishing roaming charges did not bankrupt our telecommunications companies, this reform of air passenger rights will allow the European aviation sector to grow and enable even more passengers to fly, while fully protecting Europe’s high passenger rights standards," Novakov added.
