Chairman of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Citizens' Rights (1994-1997). Former Vice-President of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (1989-1992). Former Member of the National Bioethics Committee (CNB). Former Member of the European Group on Ethics (EGE); President of the Italian Pro-Life Movement. Lecturer in international law, human rights and bioethics at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum (Rome, 2002-2010). Silver Medal of Merit for Social Rehabilitation by the Ministry of Justice (1974). MEP 1984-1999 and since 1984.
