David Casa MEP

Addressing the plenary session in the European Parliament today, Maltese MEP and PN Head of Delegation David Casa called for full EU support for the US-proposed peace plan aimed at ending hostilities in Gaza and setting the path towards a two-state solution, a path that includes accountability for the war crimes committed in Gaza.

Casa described the humanitarian tragedy as “intolerable,” pointing to “flagrant violations of international law and unprecedented cruelty.” He recalled the massacre of 7 October when over one thousand innocent people were murdered and many were taken hostage by Hamas.

“The time for peace is now. There is a plan on the table that can secure the release of hostages, stop the attacks on Gaza and lay the foundations for a two-state solution – the only path to lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis,” Casa stated referring to the plan proposed by the American government.

“But the international community must also send a clear message: those who commit war crimes will be held accountable. Justice is essential to ensure that these atrocities are never repeated,” Casa declared.
