The French Delegation of the EPP Group in the European Parliament has warmly congratulated Joseph Daul on his re-election as President of the European People’s Party (EPP).
“Joseph Daul, who has presided over the European People’s Party for the last two years, has quickly proven himself to be an undisputed leader of the centre-right political family in Europe. A key interlocutor among Europe’s highest leaders, an unrivalled negotiator, a humanist and convinced European, Joseph Daul has used his vast European experience and his spirit of consensus to coordinate and push forward EPP ideas in Europe. His re-election is a recognition of his work. It is also a great chance for Les Républicains, who, with Joseph Daul, are a major asset at the heart of the European machine", said Alain Lamassoure MEP, Head of the French Delegation of the EPP Group.
The European People’s Party, gathered in Madrid on October 21st and 22nd for its statutory Congress, re-elected Joseph Daul (LR) as its President, with 96% of the votes, for a new mandate of three years. Joseph Daul, then MEP and Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, succeeded Wilfried Martens as head of the EPP in October 2013 following the unexpected passing of Mr Martens. He left the European Parliament in June 2014 to dedicate himself to his function of President of the European People’s Party.
