“Emilio Colombo has been all along his life a constant builder of the United Europe in which he believed firmly. He was guided since the beginning of his long political career, by his strong values, our shared common values of Christian Democrats committed to the cause of European integration.

I want to pay tribute to him by remembering him as a prominent Member of the EPP Group and for his role as President of the European Parliament, in a time in which our House was struggling to achieve a more influent role in the European decision making process.

My thought goes now to his family and to the Italian People for the loss of a great European, “ said the EPP Group Chairman, Joseph Daul commenting on the pass away of former EPP Group member, Emilio Colombo.
