Improving EU citizens’ access to cross-border healthcare

Translation
Select language:

Quality of care and patient safety under the EU’s Cross-Border Healthcare Directive were at the heart of this EPP Group hearing with health professionals in the European Parliament.

This piece of EU legislation has been an important step towards improving healthcare through a greater choice between different treatments and healthcare services.

However, its implementation in EU countries has been uneven so far and it has failed to achieve some of its objectives.

The European Commission, EU Member States and MEPs are looking into how they can improve this EU law.
