Ukraine: high-level joint EPP mission to Kiev this weekend

Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, in his capacity as Vice-President of the European People's Party and Chairman of the EPP Group in the Euronest Assembly, together with Jerzy Buzek, former President of the European Parliament, Elmar Brok, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the EPP Foreign Ministers meetings, and José Ignacio Salafranca, the EPP Group's Coordinator on Foreign Affairs, will travel to Ukraine this Saturday in their capacity as EPP Group MEPs.

The purpose of this high-level mission is to express the support of the EPP family for the Ukrainian people and their European aspirations in light of the Euromaidan protests. The joint EPP/EPP Group delegation will also meet with the leaders of EPP observer member parties Vitaliy Klitschko of UDAR and Arseniy Yatsenyuk of Batkivshchyna, as well as with Eugenia Tymoshenko, daughter of imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. In addition, members of the delegation will meet with injured protestors at Kiev hospital.
