The EPP Group wants to postpone the current law proposal on pesticide reduction, because it jeopardises European food production during the war in Ukraine.

Alexander Bernhuber MEP, EPP Group Spokesman on pesticides in the Environment Committee, and Franc Bogovič MEP, EPP Group Spokesman on pesticides in the Agriculture Committee, invite you to a press briefing on the "Use of plant protection products in Europe".

The briefing will take place on Wednesday 1 March at 10:00 hrs in room 'Spinelli 5E3' (Jože Pučnik room) in the European Parliament.

Parliament's Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will start the debate on the law proposal on Thursday 2 March.

The EPP Group believes that when there is a war in Europe, we cannot do business as usual. We mustn't do anything that fires up inflation. When food production is under pressure, we mustn't do anything that makes food more expensive. When many companies are struggling with the current crisis, we mustn't create new bureaucracy for them. For as long as Russia's war in Ukraine puts economic pressure on us, we must postpone any new laws that make food more expensive.

Since the pesticides law proposal was designed before the war, the EPP Group calls for a re-evaluation, a reassessment and an impact study.
