On the invitation of the EPP Group, Christopher Hoff, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services, US Department of Commerce, Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for Internal Market, CEOs of leading European industry companies and experts will discuss the future of data in Europe and the world.

“Europe needs a coherent vision on how to achieve a truly European Digital Single Market in which data can flow freely in line with European values; a market that offers open strategic autonomy to engage with the rest of the world and which supports European citizens and businesses alike to tap into the vast opportunities offered by digitalisation”, said Christian Ehler MEP, the EPP Group’s Spokesman in the European Parliament's Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.

#EPPDataSummit for a truly European Digital Single Market: Thursday 15 April 2021, 14:00 hrs (Brussels time)

EPP Group MEPs Christian Ehler, Andreas Schwab and Axel Voss are organising the EPP Data Summit in order to facilitate the development and dissemination of this Digital Single Market vision.

During the opening session, there will be a transatlantic exchange with the new Biden Administration to set the global stage for data policy. This will be followed by two expert panels to dive deeper into what Europe needs to secure the data future we want. The first panel will focus on the regulation which is needed for a successful data-driven future for Europe. The second panel deals with the role that data can play for a competitive, green and value-driven future for Europe.
