"I have no doubt that the draft Directive on Collective Rights Management, which the European Commission presented today, is a key proposal for the digital single market. Simple and transparent licensing of copyright means more legal offers and easier access to online content for consumers", said Marielle Gallo MEP, who has been appointed Rapporteur by the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.

"The latest summer hit should be easily accessible all over Europe, just as an album by a Spanish artist should be available to a Spanish ex-pat living in Stockholm. Otherwise, we will not convince EU citizens that we are building a Europe without borders", added Marielle Gallo MEP.

"This reform must ensure fair remuneration for artists and develop new business opportunities. It is high time that we unlock the huge potential of the digital single market in terms of growth and job creation", declared Tadeusz Zwiefka MEP, EPP Group Coordinator in Legal Affairs Committee.

"I am delighted to have been appointed Rapporteur on the Collective Rights Management Directive and I thank my colleagues for their confidence in me. The message I want to deliver is clear; the new legal framework should primarily benefit European artists and consumers. I look forward to working with my colleagues from all the political groups in order to reach a balanced text which will be a political success", concluded Marielle Gallo.
