Speaking ahead of talks with the Lithuanian Government on the priorities of the upcoming rotating Presidency of the EU Council, the EPP Group Chairman Joseph Daul has outlined the crucial necessity of a more integrated Europe, politically, fiscally and socially.

"I welcome the Lithuanian Presidency’s motto: ‘Focus Europe’. After an experienced Irish Presidency, Europe also needs fresh energy from a country taking the EU helm for the first time. We count on the determination and success of the Lithuanian Presidency, which hopefully will have one more main priority: a more united Europe", said the Chairman of the most influential Group in the European Parliament.

“I am happy to see that for a more credible and growing Europe; the Lithuanian Presidency will focus on how to strengthen the base for financial stability and further develop the Banking Union framework for a deeper Economic and Monetary Union as well as on completing the Single Market. These are top priorities for the EPP Group and I look forward to seeing them reinforced by the Lithuanian Presidency”, concluded Joseph Daul.
