FYROM: EP supports start of EU accession negotiations
"The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is ready to begin EU accession negotiations. I hope that this process will start as soon as possible. The accession process will allow us to stimulate the country, intensify its reforms and its modernisation. I believe that through this process, we can help Macedonia to reform its judiciary, its public administration, and improve the situation of people belonging to minorities. It is through this that we can process issues which have been of concern to some neighbouring countries", he stated.
The Shadow Rapporteur also expressed his hope that progress achieved by the country and its long-term commitment to the integration process will be positively assessed by the Council and the country will receive a date for the start of negotiations.
