EPP Group meets in Taormina to set political priorities

EPP Group Study Days - Taormina

The EPP Group will gather in Taormina, Italy, from today until Thursday to discuss the Group’s vision and priorities for 2029.

"The EPP Group wants to build on its successes in the first half of this term and set a clear political direction for the years ahead. Our focus is clear: to deliver for European citizens while setting out a clear vision for Europe’s future. The EPP Group Study Days in Taormina will give us the opportunity to take stock of our legislative impact, set our priorities for the future and build the political momentum towards 2029," said EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber MEP.

Today and tomorrow, MEPs will address the legislative and political challenges ahead for the remainder of the mandate with President Roberta Metsola, President Ursula von der Leyen and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani. On Wednesday, MEPs will also discuss the Group's vision and key priorities for the years ahead. The programme will conclude on Thursday morning with an EPP Group Academy Working Breakfast.

"The EPP Group has once again chosen Italy, and once again has chosen the South. It did so by opting for Naples in 2024 and is doing so again by choosing Taormina this year. This is a clear sign of strong interest, one that deserves to be met with sincere gratitude but also with responsibility to rise to the occasion," said Fulvio Martusciello MEP, Head of the Forza Italia Delegation of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.

"These Study Days come at the right moment. Halfway through the mandate, we need an honest look at what we have achieved and at what still has to be done. People expect a Europe that delivers: less bureaucracy, more competitiveness and real support for businesses, farmers and rural regions. The EPP Group has set this agenda from the start, and Taormina is where we sharpen our priorities so we keep leading it all the way to 2029," said Herbert Dorfmann MEP, Head of the Südtiroler Volkspartei Delegation of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
