eCall: new legislation to reduce EU road deaths
With road traffic fatalities having fallen more than 50% since 2001, the EPP Group sought and succeeded in having even greater reductions with new technology. The measures include the eCall which automatically alerts authorities to a serious accident, and a smart digital tachograph which calculates truck drivers’ rest times.
The legislation come into force on 1 April 2018.
