Baroness Margaret Thatcher: our condolences

"We are saddened to hear of the passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher. A great Prime Minister whose legacy still resonates today," said the Chairman of the EPP Group, Joseph Daul, reacting to the news of the passing of the former British Prime Minister.

"On behalf of the EPP Group, I wish to convey my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Margaret Thatcher as well as to the British government. She was a prominent politician and great figure of the 20th century.

She inspired some of Europe's great successes, like the single market, and she played an important role in Europe's unification.

Despite our different points of view on the future direction of Europe, her commitment to democracy is a source of inspiration," said Joseph Daul.
