BIO

Giuseppe Milazzo was born in Palermo on 21 August 1977. In 2000, he obtained a diploma as a commercial expert and in 2012 he graduated in political science and international relations. He got married in 2005 and has two children, Michele and Alessia.

He entered politics for the first time in 1997 when he took office as a Council Member in the sixth district of the municipality of Palermo city. In 2001, he became President of the same district.

He has held the position of Vice-Chair of the Opera Pia S. Lucia in Palermo since 2004. In 2007, he was elected Municipal Councillor for Palermo City Council, joining the Lay Judges and Social Activities Committees. In 2011, he added the Budget, Tribute and Heritage Committees to his list of political activities for the municipality of Palermo.

He was re-elected Municipal Councillor of Palermo City Council in 2012 and in 2013, was appointed as Chair of the Guarantee and Transparency Committee.

The next year, he was elected as a Member of the Sicilian Regional Assembly (ARS) joining the Institutional Affairs Committee and, successively, the Budget and Health Committee.

In the regional elections of December 2017, he was elected with 9888 votes (the biggest share of the votes), leading him to become Chair of the political group of Forza Italia in the regional parliament. He was then appointed Member of the Budget and Health Committee, and in July 2018, he was appointed Secretary of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Autonomous Statute and Statutory Matters. In September of the same year, he became a Member of the Special Committee of Inquiry to combat the problem of stray dogs in Sicily.

After his election to the European Parliament (with 74,750 preferential votes), he became a Member of the Transport and Tourism Committee as well as a Member of the Delegation to the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly. He is also a Substitute Member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee and the Fisheries Committee, the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
