Born in Montebelluna in 1955, Remo Sernagiotto is an Italian entrepreneur and politician. He started his political career in 1994 when he joined the new-born party Forza Italia. From 1998 to 2012, he was leader of the opposition in Montebelluna City Council and in 2000 he was first elected to the Regional Council of Veneto for Forza Italia. In 2005 he was re-elected and became group leader of Forza Italia in the Regional Council of Veneto. During this term, he was President of Committee I (Planning-Statistics-Local Authorities-Institutional and General Affairs-Control-Personnel). Re-elected in 2010, he was appointed Regional Minister of Social and Youth Affairs. He has been President of the Elisan network (European Local Inclusion Social Action Network) since 2010. In the European Parliament, he sits on the Fisheries Committee and the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. MEP since 2014.
