Lojze Peterle (NSi/EPP) has won an award for his work in the European Parliament. He has been one of the 18 awardees chosen from 751 Members of the Parliament. Peterle has been honoured by The Parliament Magazine for his work within the field of health.
Peterle said: "It is a surprising honour for me to win this award for the third time. I would like to thank my colleagues for their attention to my work for more health in Europe.
Health remains one of the main challenges of the European Union and the first political priority in my view. Our inspiring slogan should be "Health first!"
The European Parliament does not have legislative power in health area, but with good concepts, initiatives and strong political we can achieve a lot more in the area of health. It is crucial that we do not consider health simply as an isolated sector.
Several years ago we agreed to apply health for all citizens, across all policies. We cannot say that we have been fully successful in that regard.
Our challenge and duty has been to rally all relevant stakeholders and bring health to the forefront.
We can only acquire good results if we share responsibility and act together. Let's keep working for more health in Europe."
MEP Awards are each year awarded by "The Parliament Magazine". The winners are selected by a secret ballot. MEP Awards are given to the Members of the Parliament for their special achievements within the fields of their respective expertise and represent international recognition of their work.
Mr. Health has been awarded this title already in 2008 and 2014.
