Prevent and combat child sexual abuse

Child

The EPP Group wants to protect children online while respecting the fundamental right to privacy. On Tuesday, MEPs in the Home Affairs Committee will vote on the Parliament’s position on the law, which lays down uniform rules for internet providers to prevent and combat child sexual abuse. "The agreement on the Parliament’s position has been possible thanks to the commitment and work done by all political groups. We have done our best to produce an effective legal framework that is legally sound and workable. There is a positive balance between protecting children online and respect for fundamental rights. It also has a necessary balance between prevention, mitigation and detection," says Javier Zarzalejos MEP, the Parliament's chief negotiator on the law.
