Hearing on public procurement in the context of COVID-19

The EPP Group hearing will discuss the challenges to public procurement procedures during the first weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic and will assess the fitness of our current public procurement framework to respond to extraordinary situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic (where public procurement of medical equipment had to be fast-tracked and yet supply chains and production chains were interrupted.)

We will also discuss how public procurement can be used as a tool to ensure that the Next Generation EU funds are effectively invested in the Member States in a very timely manner. This is essential in order to ensure a quick and efficient recovery of the European economy. Several experts from different Member States will take the floor and discuss the topic with EPP Group MEPs and stakeholders.
