More transparency, less politics in pesticide approval process

Members of the European Parliament have backed the draft Report of a Special Committee examining the EU’s pesticide approval process. The Report calls for more public transparency following the controversy over last year’s approval of glyphosate for another five years. EPP Group MEP Norbert Lins, a Member of the Special Committee, says the approval process should be science-based and devoid of politics and that farmers be given time to adjust if a substance is banned.
