The European Parliament’s latest plenary session included a debate on the future of Europe with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. MEPs backed increasing the EU 2021-27 budget to include more money for programmes including farming, innovation and Erasmus+. They gave the green light to a Clean Energy Package that will increase renewable sources, and they approved a telecoms package that updates nearly decade-old regulations by preparing the EU for 5G mobile. It also calls for a reverse-112 public alert system.
