The EU needs more medicines “Made in Europe”
We are facing a growing shortage of essential medicines in Europe. Many Europeans are unable to get their prescribed asthma medication or insulin because it simply isn’t available. This is the reality for countless people across the continent today.
Pharmacies in the EU now spend an average of up to 10 hours a week tackling medicine shortages - three times more than a decade ago. To prevent this in the future, we need greater EU cooperation, increased investment, and proactive policies.
Listen to MEPs Tomislav Sokol, Dolors Montserrat, Liesbet Sommen, Oliver Schenk, Jessica Polfjärd and Peter Liese.
Watch and find out how the Critical Medicines Act will boost production, coordinate stockpiling, and ensure that all patients in the EU get the medicines they need.
