Iliana Ivanova nominated Member of the European Court of Auditors.

Iliana Ivanova MEP was nominated today by the European Parliament as a Member of the Court of Auditors. Her candidature was approved by 309 votes in favour and 39 against. She will take up her post as a Member of the European Court of Auditors on 1 January 2013. The formal decision will be taken by the Council shortly.

Commenting on the vote, the Chairman the EPP Group, Joseph Daul, and Ingeborg Grässle MEP, EPP Group Coordinator in the Budgetary Control Committee, said: "We congratulate Mrs Ivanova on having been confirmed by the Parliament. We also congratulate the European Court of Auditors, who will now get a very competent and energetic new Member. At a time when the EU is going through a crisis, it is of the utmost importance that the European Court of Auditors has strong and competent leadership. Also, European taxpayers need to have people of her calibre in important posts."
