"25 years ago, this continent was experiencing the collapse of Communism. Today, the drama of the refugee crisis is a major challenge. It is our humanitarian duty to help those human beings who are fleeing from war and terror. Only together will we be able to fix the crisis", said Manfred Weber MEP, Chairman of the EPP Group, during the debate with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande in the European Parliament today.

The Chairman of the largest group in the European Parliament underlined that the only way to fight the political forces in Europe which are stirring fear in people, which want to break European construction, is to show political leadership: "Populists can very well describe the problems we are faced with, but they do not have any solutions. We do. We have to move ahead. Let's strengthen the European Union, deepen it. The Council should work faster and take its decisions faster. We need more EU control of external borders, more capacity to act in the field of the EU Foreign and Security Policy, but also a deepening of the Eurozone."

"The world is not going to wait for us to sort out our internal debates. We require your courage to create more Europe and more Union", concluded Manfred Weber.
