Curriculum Vitae
Vladimír Bilčík was born in Bratislava in 1975. He holds a B.A. in political science and economics from Swathmore College, an M.Phil. in European politics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in political science from Comenius University in Bratislava.
From 1999 to 2019, he worked as a researcher and later as the Head of an EU research programme in the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA). From 2005 to 2019, he also worked as a lecturer in the Political Science Department at Comenius University. He has researched and published on the EU Institutions, EU foreign policy, Slovak, German and V4 politics as well as, most recently, on Brexit.
He entered politics prior to the 2016 parliamentary elections when he ran unsuccessfully for the Slovak Parliament for the party Sieť. In 2017, he helped to establish a new political party SPOLU-občianska demokracia (TOGETHER - Civic Democracy), which joined the European People’s Party (EPP) in September 2019. He became a Member of its Board in April 2018.
In the European Parliament, Vladimír Bilčík serves as a Member of the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee and substitute Member of the Foreign Affairs and Constitutional Affairs Committees. He serves as Vice-Coordinator of the EPP Group in the Constitutional Affairs Committee. In September 2019, he was elected Chair of the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee (SAPC) and appointed the European Parliament’s Standing Rapporteur for Serbia.
