EPP Group stands firmly and unequivocally with Cyprus
Important notice

“The criminal regime in Iran is indiscriminately escalating an already volatile situation. We strongly condemn the Iranian military threats and drones targeting the British Sovereign Base Areas at Akrotiri”, said the EPP Group chairman, Manfred Weber.
“While the Republic of Cyprus was not the target, these unacceptable actions represent a dangerous escalation that risks destabilising the Eastern Mediterranean and endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure. As the Member State closer to the Middle East, Cyprus has traditionally assumed a humanitarian role in the region, precisely to be part of the solution to human suffering. The EPP Group stands firmly with Cyprus and has our unwavering solidarity and support” he added. “An attack on Cyprus would constitute an attack on Europe.”
“We call on the Iranian regime to immediately stop these illegal military threats and respect Cyprus’s territorial integrity”, he concluded.
The EPP Group chairman underlined the need as well for the EU to speed up a European drone and missile defence shield to protect its members.
