In times when global food production is under pressure, we need new innovative solutions to produce more food in Europe. The EPP Group stands behind the green transition of Europe's economy, but this must not reduce food production. This is why the EU needs new practical solutions that serve both European food security and the environment. On Wednesday, the Commission will propose a so-called Food and Biodiversity Package that includes four new laws. "To achieve the goals of the Farm to Fork Strategy, farmers need new tools. It is essential to put in place rules allowing for new genomic techniques. The EPP Group has long called for this legislative proposal, as we urgently need legal clarity for research and innovation", says Herbert Dorfmann MEP, the EPP Group Spokesman in the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
