EPP GROUP NEWSROOM Terms of Use

The Terms of Use (‘Terms’) govern your access and use of the EPP Group Newsroom and its services (‘Services’). Please read these Terms carefully and contact us if you have any questions. By registering to use the EPP Group Newsroom and accessing these Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.

The EPP Group Newsroom is the property of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) in the European Parliament.

The EPP Group Newsroom is focused on providing its Members (MEPs), their assistants, and EPP Group staff (‘Users’) with up-to-date news information relevant to their work, delivering written/audiovisual content to EPP Group Members in order for them to adapt it and use it in their public communication activities, and providing information services to a broader audience. It also allows for the creation of original content with EPP Group and personal branding. All content created by the Users shall remain under their controllership with regard to personal data.

User undertakings and responsibilities

By agreeing to use the Services, you expressly acknowledge that:

1. The Newsroom requires Users to register and create accounts. For this purpose, we collect the following information:

First name

Last name

Email address

Function within the Group

MEPs country he/she is elected in

Countries of interest

MEPs Committee membership

Interests

Device ID

Personal data is stored on an AWS server owned by the European Parliament, complies with European Parliament security conventions and will be disclosed to declared recipients in the Privacy Policy. For more information please read our Privacy Policy.

2. Users who register need to have their accounts authorised by responsible persons within the EPP Group before they can use the Newsroom.

3. Assistants and EPP Group staff may have access to an MEP’s media library if authorised to do so by the MEP.

4. Users will be removed from the Newsroom, their personal data and content created via the Newsroom deleted, in the following cases:

For MEPs at the end of their membership of the EPP Group.

For Assistants at the end of their employment in service of the assigned MEP. It is the responsibility of the MEP to either remove the Assistant from his or her Media Library or contact the Group staff to do.

For EPP Group staff at the end of their employment in the EPP Group.

For all users, you are free to stop using our Services at any time. We also reserve the right to suspend or end the Services at any point at our discretion and without notice. For example, we may suspend or terminate your use of the Services if you are not complying with these Terms, or use the Services in a manner that would cause us legal liability or reputational damage, disrupt the Services, or disrupt others’ use of the Services.

You expressly understand and agree that:

To the fullest extent permissible by applicable law, in no event shall the EPP Group, or its successor, be liable to you for any personal injury, property damage, lost profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer and/or device or technology failure or malfunction or for any form of direct and indirect damages based on any causes of action arising from the use of the Services, or any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in service or operation of the Services, or any alleged computer virus, communication line failure, theft or destruction of property, and/or unauthorised access to, alteration of, or use of or posting of any record, content or technology, pertaining to or on the Services. You agree that this limitation of liability applies regardless of the basis on which liability is claimed. Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 directly imposed controller’s responsibilities are outside the scope of the limitation of liability. You also specifically acknowledge that the EPP Group, or its successor, is not liable for any actual or alleged defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of other users of the Services or any other third parties.

If applicable law does not allow all or any part of the above limitation of liability to apply to you, the limitations will apply to you only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

All text and multimedia information (sounds, images, software, etc.) in the Newsroom is the intellectual property of the EPP Group, or information for which the Group has acquired and/or negotiated rights. Thus, all texts, photos, videos, facts, notices, logos, brands and other elements reproduced on the site are reserved and protected by trademark law and/or copyright and/or all other provisions in force, which would apply to intellectual ownership.

Content, in particular multimedia content, should not be edited or otherwise changed for use for purposes other than those originally intended. Any unlawful use of all or part of the Newsroom (piracy, counterfeiting, etc.) may give rise to prosecution under the laws in force.

7. Users creating content are fully responsible for their participation. Users are expressly required not to make defamatory statements and not to infringe or authorise any infringement of copyright, of data protection and privacy law, or any other legal right.

The Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) in the European Parliament will not accept any liability in such case and the participant(s) responsible will be personally liable for any damages or other liability arising. Each user shall be liable for any loss or damage caused to the EPP Group in the European Parliament or third parties by their unlawful conduct. Each user shall be liable for compensation to the EPP Group in the European Parliament in the event of an action, claim or proceedings brought against the EPP Group in the European Parliament by a third party following any damage caused to the third party by the user’s unlawful conduct .

8. All video content that is personalised and created by the User using the Services is generated through a third party data processor, Impossible Software. Impossible Software supplies the app with an API to render the videos.

9. Statistics on your use of the Services may be collected in order to improve the Services, namely statistics on shares and downloads of Premium Content and on read Media Lines. Our use of this information is governed by our Privacy Policy

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The changes will not be retroactive, and the most current version of the Terms, which will always be at LINK , will govern our relationship with you. The changes in relation to data protection will be communicated to data subjects, for example via a service notification or an email to the email associated with your account. By continuing to access or use the Services after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
