"We are not entirely satisfied after this hearing. Frans Timmermans is a good communicator but open questions remain", said Esther de Lange MEP, Vice-Chairwoman of the EPP Group responsible for the Economy and Environment, and Peter Liese MEP, EPP Group Spokesman for the Environment Committee, after Frans Timmermans’ hearing.
"We welcome Timmermans’ commitments to creating a carbon neutral strategy for industry and increasing the climate targets to at least 50 percent and to 55 percent, but only if conditions are met", they continued.
"The Green Deal cannot be put through without concrete solutions, which will take people, industry and the continent along. We are happy that Frans Timmermans committed to working with Executive Vice-President-designate Valdis Dombrovskis on the transition of industry. Climate and industry policy need to go hand in hand", concluded De Lange and Liese.
The EPP Group is the largest political group in the European Parliament with 182 Members from 26 Member States
