EPP Group fully supports Johannes Hahn as Budget and Administration Commissioner

“Today during the hearing before the European Parliament, Johannes Hahn has shown to all of us that he is the right person to be the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration for the next five years,” said Vice-Chair of the EPP Group, Siegfried Mureșan MEP, immediately after the hearing of the Commissioner-designate for Budget and Administration.

“Hahn is a committed European; he has the experience, the knowledge and the skills to construct a budget that delivers for the people of Europe. This is why the EPP Group fully and enthusiastically supports Johannes Hahn as the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration,” Siegfried Mureșan MEP added.

“The budget is the main tool of the EU to deliver on its policies. The budget needs to serve researchers and students in Europe, as well as farmers, cities and villages. We need enough funds for SMEs and for innovation. Furthermore, in order to deliver all of this we need a robust budget, which is able to deliver what the people expect from the European Union,” MEP Mureșan explained.

“One of his first – and main – tasks is to construct the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the next seven years. It will be a difficult negotiation between the Parliament and the Member States, and today he has shown to us that he will defend the position of the Parliament. We have full trust and total confidence in him,” MEP Mureșan concluded.
