We welcome the long-awaited legislative proposals the European Commission put forward today in the field of company law

"For many years there were no notable developments in European company law. We put a great deal of hope in new proposals as there is a clear demand from European businesses to adjust the existing rules to enable stable economic growth. The EPP Group is determined to bring results before the end of this parliamentary term," said Axel Voss, EPP Group Coordinator in the Legal Affairs Committee.

The new proposals consist of 2 directives.

The first directive regulates the issue of mergers, divisions and companies' transfers of seats.

The second directive presents new harmonised rules on the online registration of companies and branches.

It's high time that digital solutions also apply in the field of companies' registration Tadeusz Zwiefka

"Lately, digitalisation has been a core focus for EU decision-makers. It's high time that digital solutions also apply in the field of companies' registration. Especially for SMEs, being able to apply online tools facilitates things and proves to be cheaper and quicker. Thanks to this proposal, the single market for companies will properly enter into the 21st century," said Tadeusz Zwiefka, Vice-Chair of the EPP Group.
