Reacting to the results of yesterday's EU summit, Manfred Weber, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, said: "The decisions of the European Summit are clearly not sufficient to tackle the challenges of the refugee crisis. Too many EU Member States still believe that they will be able to bumble through the crisis with a closed-eyes strategy. But this is an illusion.

We fully support Commission President Juncker's ambitious programme. What is needed is more money, a comprehensive agreement with Turkey, EU external borders must be secured, hotspots must be put in place, and returns must be widely increased. The results of the summit are in any case a small intermediate step. The state and government leaders must re-work this quickly and with much more commitment."
