Members of the EPP Group Presidency are concluding their 3-day official visit to Mexico today.

“We have had fruitful and inspiring discussions with President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto, members of his government, and with all our interlocutors”, said Manfred Weber, Chairman of the EPP Group.

“The EPP Group supports the successful conclusion of the updated association agreement with Mexico bringing the relationship up to modern standards for mutual benefits. The EU-Mexican trade partnership that is currently being negotiated goes way beyond trade. It is a trade agreement with a soul. EU-Mexico relations are also about upholding common values, democracy and human rights. This is the message that we conveyed during our talks. As partners, we can also learn from each other to set higher standards for human rights, press freedom, and the fight against impunity and corruption”, he added.
