Improving future legislation

On a practical level, it is responsible for processing petitions and also for relations with the European Ombudsman. It also has an important role in helping to identify problems with the implementation of EU law in Member States.

The EU treaties guarantee all European citizens the right to write to the European Parliament on the various types of problems they encounter in their everyday lives, where these issues fall within the field of activity of the European Union.

After all, European citizens' direct experiences of EU law can help us as legislators. We should take better advantage of them to improve future legislation.
