Jean-Claude Juncker, the EPP top candidate to become president of the European Commission, was the top guest of the EPP / CDA conference in Europe. After arriving in his special campaign bus at the Janskerk in Utrecht, Juncker gave an inspiring speech on the European integration.

He spoke about the lessons learned from the euro crisis.  The former president of the eurogroup of ministers of Finances, considered that Europe came out of the crisis in a strong way. On the near future he said: "Europe can only succeed and be a player at world level by cooperating. This is the case in economy, trade, defence, foreign affairs and challenges like climate change."

"In a world where China and India have a population 100 times that of The Netherlands, it is clear The Dutch need the EU to assure its national interests."

Juncker also praised the leadership of Esther de Lange, topcandidate for the CDA list for the European elections.

CDA-delegationleader Wim van de Camp was very happy to welcome Juncker: "We are delighted that Mr Juncker has found the time to come to The Netherlands to meet our guests". Juncker is campaigning in almost all EU Member States up to the European elections 22-25 May.
