Beatrice Scarascia Mugnozza was appointed Head of the Directorate for relations with National Parliaments of the EPP Group in the European Parliament in October 2007.
She has worked as a political group administrator since 1981, and was in charge of the Regional Committee (1981-1982) and the Constitutional Committee (1982-2007).
As an administrator for the Constitutional Committee, she assisted the EPP Group Vice-Chairman in charge of Relations with National Parliaments and the Vice-President of the European Parliament for the bi-annual meeting of COSAC. She held this position from 1984 until 1999.
She was a principal administrator and coordinator for the Foreign Affairs Working Group (1992-1999).
Between 2002 and 2003, she was responsible for the EPP-ED delegation at the European Convention.
Between 1997 and 2007, she worked as a Group adviser in charge of the Delegation for relations with Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union, the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum and the EMPA.
Beatrice Scarascia Mugnozza was born in Rome, Italy. After receiving her European baccalaureat, she studied Political Science and International Relations at the Catholic University of Louvain (1978), she was awarded a Master's Degree in European Studies (UCL/LLN 1980), and a Doctor's degree in Political Science at the University of Urbino.
