A Comissão do Ambiente, da Saúde Pública e da Segurança Alimentar é responsável pelo desenvolvimento sustentável, pela política ambiental e pelas medidas de proteção ambiental, nomeadamente em matéria de poluição do ar, do solo e da água, gestão e reciclagem de resíduos, substâncias e preparações perigosas, níveis de ruído, alterações climáticas e proteção da biodiversidade. Ocupa-se da saúde pública, sobretudo através de programas e ações específicos no domínio da saúde pública, e dos produtos farmacêuticos e cosméticos. Por último, trata das questões de segurança alimentar, designadamente rotulagem e segurança dos géneros alimentícios, legislação veterinária relativa à proteção contra riscos para a saúde humana e controlos sanitários dos produtos alimentares e dos sistemas de produção alimentar.
